Senior sweeps smallbore, air rifle, aggregate against the Zips.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Memphis' Leighton Dempster made it a clean sweep in the Tigers' Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) victory over Akron, winning the smallbore and air rifle disciplines and also taking the aggregate title.

Dempster, a senior, shot a career-high 584 score in smallbore and a 591 result in air rifle. Her smallbore score surpassed her previous-best of 579, which she posted in the 2018 NCAA Sectional Qualifier. She has recorded an air rifle mark of 590 or higher in all eight matches in 2018-19.

It also is the fourth-straight performance in which she shot an aggregate of 1175 or higher. For the season, Dempster has had aggregates of 1175 or higher five times.

Tigers Tidbits

Leighton Dempster was the only shooter in the match to have an aggregate of 1170 or higher (Akron's Andre Gross was second at 1166).
Memphis had five of the top-seven smallbore scores in the match versus Akron.
Matt Dorey posted a season-high 588 mark in the air rifle discipline. His score was one shy of tying his career-high 589, which he shot against Ole Miss in 2017-18.
Amberlie Ezell shot a season-best 584 air rifle score.
Mark Meyeraan recorded his second-best smallbore score of the season (569).
