The Tigers look to build off of the momentum from last Saturday's 71-50 victory over Wichita State. Backed by a career-high 26 from Alana Davis, Memphis muscled its way to 36 points in the paint and added 17 from the charity stripe. Gazmyne Herndon added a versatile stat line of eight points, six rebounds and eight assists.
Jamirah Shutes, who also notched double-digit scoring against the Shockers, leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game. Her scoring output ranks ninth in The American, and first among freshmen in the league. Davis is second on the team, netting 12.6 points per contest. Davis is one of the most efficient players in the conference, shooting the fourth-highest field goal percentage at 52.9 percent.
Davis is the leading Tiger in rebounding, pulling down 8.6 rebounds per contest. A key part of Memphis' rebounding, particularly on the offensive boards, Davis ranks in the top 20 in the nation in offensive rebounds.
Scouting the Pirates
ECU visits Memphis after dropping its previous outing to Tulsa. The 75-55 loss on Saturday saw three Pirates score in double-figures, but the offensive rebounding of Tulsa was too much to overcome.
Raven Johnson is ECU's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. The Pirates lead The American with 12 steals per game, and also lead the conference with a +7.00 turnover margin.
Memphis and ECU have previously faced off 30 times, with Memphis claiming a 17-13 advantage. Memphis has won four of the last five, and 10 of the last 13 matchups.
