Alaniz and Zalzman Named to Weekly Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Redshirt freshman Edgar Alaniz and senior David Zalzman were named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league.
Zalzman scored his second career penalty kick goal in the match against UAB. The score tied the game, allowing the Tigers to come away with a draw. Zalzman now has three goals on the year, tied for tops on the squad.
Alaniz scored his first career goal in the conference opening win against Cincinnati. In the final minute of the first half, Alaniz caught a glancing header off of a pass from Peyton McKnatt, giving the Tigers the 1-0 lead, and eventually, the 1-0 victory.
The Honor Roll nods are the first for both players, and the second time this season the Tigers have had two players awarded weekly honors.
The Tigers will put their four-match unbeaten streak on the line as they face the visiting UConn Huskies on Friday evening. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
