Memphis Opens AAC Play Against Cincinnati

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis men's soccer team open the conference portion of its schedule with a Sunday night matchup against Cincinnati. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The Memphis Tigers
Memphis enters the weekend after a double-overtime draw against UAB on Tuesday. Senior midfielder David Zalzman's penalty kick in the 37th minute tied the match at 1-1, and defense ruled the rest of the night.
As conference play begins, the Tigers have several players that rank near the top of the conference for their respective positions. Peyton McKnatt, Chris Mikus and David Zalzman are all tied for third in the conference with three goals apiece. Tyler Hofmann is currently leading the AAC in goals allowed per game, giving up 0.79 goals per outing. Hofmann has also been a part of three shutouts, including two solo outings of shutting down opposing offenses.
Cincinnati is a familiar opponent for the Tigers, as the teams have faced each other 27 previous times. Currently, Cincinnati leads the series 14-12-1. Last season, Memphis picked up a 3-1 win in Cincinnati against the Bearcats.
