The Tigers begin the conference season at home against UCF
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team announced its 16-game American Athletic Conference schedule Thursday afternoon which begins on Jan. 5 against UCF at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The match-up against the Knights will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
This is the third season The American has had a 16-game conference schedule after the league's head coaches voted for the change at the 2015 American Athletic Conference spring meetings. The move allows more flexibility in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The Tigers have home and away meetings against Cincinnati, ECU, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State, home-only games against UCF (Jan. 5), Houston (Feb. 24) and Temple (Mar. 4) and road-only match-ups against USF (Jan. 23), UConn (Feb. 20) and SMU (Mar. 2).
Memphis has been selected to be aired on four American Digital Network games including one at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse against Cincinnati on Feb. 13. The Tigers will also have their road game against UConn on Feb. 20 televised on ESPN3 and their home game against Houston on Feb. 24 televised on ESPNU.
The majority of the conference schedule will be played on Wednesdays and Saturdays with the exception of the Sunday afternoon game at home against Houston on Feb. 24 and the Monday night match-up against Temple on Mar. 4 at the Fieldhouse.
After concluding the regular season against Temple, the Tigers will head back to Uncasville, Conn. for the AAC Championship held at the Mohegan Sun. This year's championship is scheduled for March 8-11, 2019.
After hosting LeMoyne-Owen in an exhibition game on Nov. 3, the Tigers will open up the non-conference schedule against Jackson State on Nov. 7. The non-conference schedule is highlighted with eight home games, three road games and a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to compete in a two-game tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday.
