Tigers set for Labor Day matchup against Samford

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After grinding out a 1-0 overtime shutout against UAB on Thursday, the Memphis women's soccer team returns to the field for a Labor Day matchup against the Samford Bulldogs on Monday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Samford Track and Soccer Stadium and can be streamed on ESPN+.

Samford's match against Rice on Friday was canceled late in the first half due to lightning in the Birmingham area. The Bulldogs had taken a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of action. In the 27th minute, lightning moved into the area, and after waiting for about an hour and a half, the match was canceled.
The Bulldogs spilt a pair of contests last weekend. After notching their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Alabama State last Friday, the Bulldogs were blanked by UAB last Sunday.
Junior Erin Bonner and sophomore Caroline Orman lead Samford in scoring, each having tallied a goal. In the net, sophomore Stephanie Westaway has logged 15 saves in four games for the Bulldogs, while junior Sarah Thorne has two saves in two appearances.
