Memphis hosts Cincinnati, ECU to open league play

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Returning home on a six-match win streak, Memphis women's soccer has met the halfway mark of the 2018 season and will open league play this week against Cincinnati and ECU at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Five Things to Know About Memphis
- The Tigers return to Memphis after winning six consecutive matches on the road. Through nine games this year, Memphis is off to its second-best start in program history and best since 2011.
- Defensively, the Tigers top the nation in shutout percentage (.889). In goal, Elizabeth Moberg's eight shutouts this season also lead the country.
- Offensively, Memphis ranks ninth nationally in total goals with 24. Clarissa Larisey leads the American Athletic Conference with seven goals.
- Junior Stasia Mallin was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after collecting a pair of assists and anchoring a back line that pitched two shutouts last week. Serena Dolan and Elizabeth Moberg were also listed to the league's Honor Roll.

A Look at Cincinnati
The Bearcats enter conference play after wins against Lipscomb and LSU last weekend. Cincinnati has posted a 5-0-1 record at home and a 0-3-0 mark on the road, with all three road losses coming against then-Top 25 opponents.
Jill Vetere, Sophie Gorman and Sydney Kilgore have each recorded two goals for the Bearcats this season. Vetere also leads the team with three assists.
In goal, Madison Less has served as the primary keeper. Less has stopped 25 shots against six goals.
A Look at ECU
ECU will kick off league play at Tulsa on Thursday before traveling to Memphis for Sunday's matchup. The Pirates have won four of their last five contests, including a trio of shutouts.
Courtney Cash leads the team in goals with five, while Jenna Dages has added four scores. The Pirates have tallied 18 goals this year, which ranks second in the league behind Memphis.
Between the posts, Melanie Stiles has appeared in all eight games, logging 30 saves against six goals allowed.
