Get To Know Me: Dylan Parham
Sep 19, 2018 | Football
Freshman earned his first start on the offensive line in the season opener.
Note: The Dylan Parham Get To Know Me feature appeared in the Tigers Football GameDay program Sept. 1 when Memphis hosted Mercer.
When the 2018 campaign opens tonight, most of Tiger Nation will have its eyes on the quarterback and how Brady White performs. Some also may be interested in who the "go-to" wide receiver will be.
However, fans may want to keep watch on another "new guy" on offense – the guy who will help protect White so he has time in the pocket to throw the ball to the new primary wideout. That other "new guy" is Dylan Parham, the Tigers' left guard.
Parham, who wears No. 56, is the new face on offensive line, as Trevon Tate (36 starts), Drew Kyser (36), Dustin Woodard (23) and Roger Joseph (10) all return. That quartet, under the tutelage of offensive line coach Ryan Silverfield, paved the way for two of the top three most explosive offenses in program history the last two years.
Although new to the fans, Parham, who joined the Tigers as a tight end, has been on the coaches' radar since he arrived on campus in the fall of 2017. As a redshirt freshman, Parham took advantage of his time, pushing the starters in practice and, at the same time, preparing himself for this moment tonight.
Parham entered the Tigers program with some impressive credentials. A Carrollton, Ga., native, Parham played his senior season at tight end for the Carrollton High School Trojans and was primarily used as a run/pass blocker. As an extension of the offensive line, he helped the Trojans roll up more than 4,200 yards of total offense. Parham helped lead the Trojans to an 11-2 record and the quarterfinal round of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class AAAAA state playoffs. For his efforts, Parham earned Times-Georgian All-Area first team honors.
Let's learn more about Parham away from the field.
I started playing football when I was ... Around 7 to 8-years-old. I played defensive end and running back then. But, when I moved up, I played mostly at running back until I got to high school.
The social media platform I enjoy the most is ... Twitter, most definitely. Twitter has all the videos.
When I'm not at practice, you'll find me… Resting or playing video games
This past summer, I… Went home and spent some time with my family
If I won the lottery, I would… Pay off my parents' house, save some for my girl's college tuition and invest the rest of it
If I were a superhero, the super power I'd like to have is… Super speed because having that could help at any position in any sport
If I didn't play football, I'd play… Basketball because I can hoop. I really enjoy playing basketball with my friends.
#1 thing on my "bucket list"… Travel the world
