MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following a 2-0 week highlighted by a shutout win at Ole Miss, three Tigers were recognized in American Athletic Conference's Week 5 accolades, the league announced Monday.
Junior defender Stasia Mallin was named AAC's Defensive Player of the Week, while junior midfielder Serena Dolan and sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Moberg were listed to the weekly Honor Roll.
Mallin tallied a pair of assists in the Tigers' two wins and helped post two clean sheets. Mallin's first assist came on the second goal in the 3-0 win at Arkansas State. In Sunday's non-conference finale, Mallin assisted on the game-winner when she sent a deep cross in the box, which was finished in the 4th minute.
Ole Miss entered Sunday's match leading the country in goals scored with 26, and the Carmel, Ind., native helped anchor a back line that kept the Rebels off the board and limited them to their second-lowest shot output of the season with 10. Monday's honor is the first of Mallin's career.
Dolan tallied two goals for her first scores of the season. After notching a goal against Arkansas State, Dolan increased the Memphis advantage at Ole Miss with a score in the 69th minute to seal the victory. The Nova Scotia native previous garnered Honor Roll accolades on Aug. 29, 2016.
In goal, Moberg registered her seventh and eighth clean sheets of the season after last week. The keeper made a pair of saves against Ole Miss to keep the Rebels scoreless and drive her nation-leading shutout mark to eight. Overall, Moberg has recorded 12 shutouts in her career. Along with being named to the Honor Roll on Oct. 16 last season, Moberg previously earned Goalkeeper of the Week accolades on Aug. 20 of this year.
The Tigers return to the pitch on Thursday to open conference play. Memphis welcomes Cincinnati to Mike Rose Soccer Complex with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
