Women's tennis collects five wins on day two of Missouri Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Feeding off its first-day momentum, Memphis women's tennis tallied five more wins on day two of the Missouri Invitational.
Much like Friday, the Tigers collected three wins in doubles against Missouri and Denver to open the day then registered a pair of wins in singles play against Wichita State.
"Another good day for the Tigers. Strong doubles by everyone, we loved their energy and effort," head coach Hayden Perez said. "We competed well in singles. These early season matches are great for us to learn what we need to work on moving forward. My hope is that we can finish strong tomorrow and head home on a good note."
In doubles action, duo Aleksandra Topalovic and Alisha Reayer picked up a 6-2 win. Juniors Katherine Cao and Claire Sullivan teamed up for a 7-5 victory, while junior Josephine Cao and sophomore Kayla Klazmer cruised to a 6-2 win.
In singles action, sophomore Laura Bente etched her first win of the fall in straight-set fashion against Wichita State's Marta Bellucco. Topalovic also tallied a straight-set decision, downing the Shockers' Ting-Ya Hsu, 6-2, 6-3.
Memphis closes the weekend in Columbia, Mo., on Sunday beginning with doubles action against Wichita State before concluding the tournament against Denver in singles play.
