Memphis decides not to play in Washington, D.C., due to travel concerns.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Due to travel concerns and a declared state of emergency in the Washington, D.C., area, the University of Memphis Athletics Department has withdrawn its volleyball team from the Dig The District Invitational, co-hosted by Georgetown University and George Washington University.

Memphis returns to action next weekend with the start of American Athletic Conference play. The Tigers (7-5 record) open their league schedule on the road at Tulsa Sept. 21 and Wichita State Sept. 23.
