MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the third consecutive preseason, the Memphis Football program will spend three days on the UofM Lambuth Campus as part of training camp. The team arrives at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and will break the camp Saturday with a 10 a.m. scrimmage that is open to the public.
"We do a lot of group activities at this Lambuth camp outside of football," head coach Mike Norvell said. "We want our guys to learn together, learn to communicate, learn to trust their teammates, build their comradery and learn to work together through different situations."
The Tigers will practice at the UofM Wednesday morning as part of their normal morning routine now that summer classes are complete. The team will roll out for the short ride to Jackson with plans on arriving on the UofM Lambuth campus at 2:30 p.m. outside Carney-Jonston Hall.
Thursday and Friday will feature Tiger practices in the morning, followed by meetings and team-building activities in the afternoons and evenings.
"For the past three years, the Lambuth campus has been fortunate to host the UofM football coaches, staff and team at the Lambuth campus for their annual camp, and each year, they have held a scrimmage to showcase all of their talent for the Jackson community to see. We're excited to see what the Tigers have in store for us this fall under the leadership of Coach Norvell," said Niles Reddick, Vice Provost, University of Memphis Lambuth.
Saturday will wrap camp with a pre-season tailgate and scrimmage, presented by the UofM Alumni Association. Following the 10 a.m. scrimmage, fans can meet and greet the Tiger players. Parking and admission to the event is free.
