Tony Pollard Named to Hornung Award Watch List

Second watch list of the preseason for the Memphis native.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Memphis junior All-America wide receiver/kick returner Tony Pollard has been named to his second preseason watch list for 2018 as the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is the latest. The Paul Hornung Award is presented annually by the Louisville Sports Commission to the most versatile player in major college football.
Pollard is also on the watch list for the Maxwell Award. The Memphis native was a Walter Camp All-America honoree last year after leading the FBS with 40.0 yards per kickoff return and tying for the national lead with four kickoff return touchdowns.
The two-time defending American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year, Pollard also found the end zone six other times last season, including two rushing touchdowns. He had 36 catches for 536 yards and four touchdowns, and his 536 yards receiving was second only to NCAA Consensus All-American Anthony Miller.
Also an FWAA, Sports Illustratedand Phil Steele All-American, Pollard was named to the Hornung Award Watch List in 2017. A two-time, first-team all-conference honoree, Pollard and his Tiger teammates report to fall camp on Thursday, Aug. 2. Memphis fans can get their first sneak peek at the 2018 Tigers at Football Fan Fest on Saturday, Aug. 11. That event includes a 4 pm equipment sale, a 4:20 pm scrimmage and a 6 pm autograph session.
