Tigers deliver fifth straight victory

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Memphis women's tennis capped its regular-season conference slate on a high note, collecting a 6-1 victory against UConn to extend its win streak to five matches.
Memphis (13-7, 3-3) worked quickly to take the opening doubles point, and then delivered five straight-set singles wins.
"The girls came out strong today and we played some good doubles," head coach Hayden Perez said. "We have put an emphasis on a few things in practice this week, and the girls executed those things well today in singles. The focus they showed in singles was impressive. I'm proud of their efforts."
In singles, seniors Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn continued the momentum for the Tigers. The duo each claimed a first-set win before sweeping the second frame to help build a 3-0 Memphis lead.
Sophomore Katherine Cao turned in her 10th straight singles victory to provide the match-clinching win for Memphis. Alisha Reayer increased the Tigers lead to 5-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win.
The Huskies (9-8, 0-3) got on the board with a win on court 3, but freshman Lina Hohnhold set the 6-1 final with her third win in as many matches.
The Tigers will compete in their final regular-season road match on Sunday at 9 a.m. (CT) against Boston University.
