Tigers end weekend with 5-2 victory

Memphis extends win streak to six

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – In their final regular-season match away from home, the Memphis Tigers defeated Boston University 5-2 in a neutral-site contest on Sunday to push their win streak to six.
Memphis (14-7, 3-3) set the tone early, notching their fourth straight win in doubles, then used their depth in singles to capture the victory.
"It's a great day for the Tigers," head coach Hayden Perez said. "We played solid doubles and seem to have found our mojo there again. Today showed off our depth – we struggled at the top of the lineup, but the bottom of the lineup picked them up. Boston competed well up top and made it tough on us. We are looking forward to our last home match of the season next week and honoring our seniors on Senior Day."
In singles, Memphis scored wins from the bottom three in the lineup to secure the victory. Alisha Reayer was first off the court with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Claire Sullivan, who helped clinched the opening doubles point for the Tigers, extended the Memphis advantage to 3-0 behind a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Lina Hohnhold produced the match-clinching win for the Tigers. Her 6-1, 6-3 victory also extended her singles win streak to four matches. Hanna Sohn capped the scoring for Memphis with a three-set battle on court 2, as the senior claimed a 11-9 win in a super tiebreak.
The Tigers will return home for their final contest of the season Saturday against WKU. The regular-season finale, which will also serve as senior day, is set for 1 p.m.
