League play continues for women's tennis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Conference action continues for the Memphis women's tennis team, as the Tigers welcome ECU to town for a Friday morning matchup.

First serve from the Racquet Club of Memphis is set for 10 a.m. Admission to all U of M home matches is free.

Memphis (8-7, 0-3) returns home after a 1-2 outing in their Florida trip last week. The Tigers defeated Penn State to open the week before dropping league matches at USF and No. 25 UCF.

Senior Anki Wind picked up a pair of singles wins last week to improve her record to 12-2. Sophomore Katherine Cao also picked up two wins in singles play to extend her team-best win streak to six matches.

Celia Ruiz, who ranks No. 53 nationally in singles, leads the Pirates (10-4, 1-1) with a 9-2 record. Ruiz also is in the midst of a six-match win streak. In doubles, Ruiz and Lisa Hofbauer have teamed up for a 7-4 mark, all at the top spot.

The Tigers lead the all-time series, 4-3, with the last regular-season meeting coming in 2011.
