Zalzman earned second-team honors for academic success
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After being named to the All-Region team just a day ago, David Zalzman was named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second-Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The senior has earned a 3.82 GPA as an information systems and supply chain management major. During his time at Memphis, he has been a part of the Tiger 3.0 Club and has earned his way on the Dean's List five times. Zalzman has also been included in the Tiger Academic 30 twice. Zalzman has also been an addition to three straight American Athletic Conference All-Academic Teams.
His academic accomplishments have also led to team accolades as well. During his time at Memphis, the Tigers have earned three United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards and back-to-back AAC Team Academic Awards in 2016-17.
On the field, Zalzman earned his second all-conference award, a first-team all-conference nod after scoring four goals as the captain of the Tigers. The Maracay, Venezuela native netted two PKs during the season, including the equalizer in the AAC Championship Quarterfinal win over USF.
Zalzman's honor is the first academic All-American recognition for a Tiger since Mark Sherrod was named to the First-Team in 2013.
