UofM, No. 3 Vols will play before fifth sellout at FedExForum in school history
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis announced Monday that Saturday's 11 a.m. men's basketball game against third-ranked Tennessee at FedExForum is a sellout.
School officials said any tickets returned to the athletic department will be made available at GoTigersGoTix.com.
The Tigers (5-4) and the Vols (7-1) will be playing for the first time since the 2012-13 season when they met in Knoxville. Tennessee moved to No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 Monday after knocking off top-ranked Gonzaga, 76-73, in Phoenix, Ariz., on Sunday.
Saturday's game will mark the fifth time the Tigers have attracted a sellout crowd (18,400 or more) since they moved into the FedExForum for the 2004-05 season. The Tigers-Georgetown game on Dec. 22, 2007 drew the largest crowd (18,864) and the March 7, 2009 game against Tulane represents the last sellout (18,466).
When No. 1 Memphis played No. 2 Tennessee on Feb. 23, 2008 at FedExForum, the game drew 18,389.
Saturday's game will be shown on ESPN2.
