Men’s soccer to face USF in opening round of AAC Championship

Orlando, Fla. – The Memphis men's soccer team opens the 2018 AAC Championship with a matchup against USF on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m., CT, and will be viewable on Facebook Live.

A Look at the Memphis Tigers
The Tigers will face USF after playing them in the regular season finale on Friday. Memphis hopes to reverse its fortune after falling 2-0 against the Bulls. The Tigers struggled to get shots on goal in the loss.
Memphis' goal scoring has been a collaborative effort this season, as nine Memphis players have scored a goal in 2018, with five players having scored multiple times. Chris Mikus leads the way with four scores. Eight different Tigers have recorded an assist as well, led by Alexandros Ierides' team-high five. Between the posts, Memphis goalkeepers have combined for six shutouts and 72 saves.
Leading the Tigers is head coach Richard Mulrooney, who returns to the conference tournament for the first time since 2015. Memphis holds the sixth spot in the conference standings, with a 2-4-1 conference record.
Scouting the Bulls
USF faces the Tigers after winning against the Tigers on Saturday. The teams will face off for the third time in AAC Championship play.
Alex Zis and Tomasz Skublak lead USF with 18 and 17 points, respectively. In goal for the Bulls, Harrison Devenish-Meares has allowed 22 goals in 1367 minutes, and has recorded 62 saves.
Now in his second season, Bob Butehorn leads the Bulls as head coach. Butehorn's Bulls were among the teams that did not reach the AAC Championship field last season.
