Men’s Soccer Stays on Road to Face Central Arkansas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tigers remain on the road as they head to Conway, Ark., to take on the Bears of Central Arkansas. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Memphis Tigers
Memphis plays the back half of a two-match road slate after ending in a draw with Temple Saturday night. After finding themselves down one at half, the Tigers responded with intensity, pressuring the Temple defense. In the 60th minute, Bryant Huerta fired a shot off of the post that was collected by Edgar Alaniz, who put the equalizer in the back of the net.
With the score, Alaniz joins Peyton McKnatt, Chris Mikus and David Zalzman in having multiple goals on the year. McKnatt, Mikus and Zalzman all have three goals to their names. Tyler Hofmann tied a season high with five saves, and maintained his sub-1.00 goals allowed average, allowing only 0.84 goals per match.
The Tigers are led by head coach Richard Mulrooney, now in his fifth season. Mulrooney holds a 3-1 record over the Bears, and Memphis has an all-time record of 12-2 against the host team.

Central Arkansas welcomes Memphis after defeating the Evansville Aces by way of a 3-2 result. The conference win over Evansville was a goal festival in the first half, as all five goals scored came in the first 45 minutes.
Niklas Brodacki leads the team in scoring with seven goals. Brodacki's score count ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference. Between the posts, Marc Olsen has 28 saves in 819 minutes, and has recorded three shutouts.
Head coach Ross Duncan is in the midst of his seventh season at the helm of the program, and his ninth season on the coaching staff. Duncan led Central Arkansas to the school's first NCAA Tournament last season.
