Tigers Head to Nashville for Final Non-Conference Match

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis men's soccer team stays on the road for its last non-Conference matchup of the year against Lipscomb Tuesday night. Kickoff at Lipscomb Soccer Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Memphis Tigers
Memphis enters the week after taking a road match from Tulsa on Saturday evening. Gurman Sangha scored the lone goal of the match in the 92nd minute, breaking the stalemate with the golden goal in overtime. Gurman's game-winner was his first score of his collegiate career.
Eight Tigers have scored a goal in 2018, including four that have scored multiple times. Peyton McKnatt, David Zalzman and Chris Mikus are tops on the squad with three goals apiece. Eight members of the squad have also recorded an assist, led by Alexandros Ierides' three. Between the posts, Memphis goalkeepers have combined for five shutouts and 59 saves. Parker Lackland earned the shutout against Tulsa.
Memphis is led by head coach Richard Mulrooney, who is entering the final stretch of matches in his fifth season. The Tigers currently sit in fifth place in the American Athletic Conference standings with a 2-2-1 conference record. Six teams will clinch spots for the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Lipscomb Bison
Lipscomb hosts Memphis after defeating NJIT in Newark over the weekend. The 2-1 score was the third victory in a row for the Bison.
The leading scorer for the Bison is Logan Paynter, who has six goals on the year. Paynter has also added three assists, and leads the squad with 15 points on the year. Goalkeeping duties have been split between Chris Zappia and Luke Wilson, who have combined for 58 saves.
Head coach of the Bison is Charles Morrow, now in his 13th season. In his time coaching his alma mater, Morrow has coached 33 all-conference players.
