Henderson Picks Up Midseason Plaudits

Nation’s leading rusher named to midseason All-American teams
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis junior running back and FBS leading rusher Darrell Henderson has been named to the Sporting News and ESPN.com Midseason All-American teams.
Henderson is the nation's rushing leader with 1,133 rushing yards and also the FBS scoring leader with 15 total touchdowns. He is also the nation's most explosive back, with an FBS-best 10.30 yards per carry and nine rushes of 40-plus yards.
The Batesville, Miss., product leads the country with 161.9 rushing yards per game and 205 all-purpose yards per game.
With his rushing total through seven games this season, Henderson is the ninth Tiger to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in a single season, and is just the third Tiger all-time to rush for over 1,000 yards in multiple seasons.
Henderson has rushed for over 100 yards in 10 of his last 12 games dating back to last season and has a scored a touchdown in his last 10 games played. His 2,769 career rushing yards rank second all-time in program history and his 27 career rushing TD are tied for third all-time.
Both Sporting News and ESPN heaped praise on Henderson as an all-purpose/athlete position on their midseason All-American teams.
Henderson has been recognized by the American Athletic Conference in five of the seven weeks this season, earning Offensive Player of the Week honors following his career-high 233 rushing yards against Georgia State. He has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll on four occasions, including following the Oct. 13 game against UCF.
Henderson and the Tigers will face another tough test this weekend, traveling to Missouri for a match-up with an SEC opponent for the first time since 2016. Memphis and Missouri square off Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. on SEC Network.
