Tigers open ITA Regional Championships with strong start

Three singles, two doubles teams advance in Chattanooga
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – On the first day of the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Chattanooga, three Tigers advanced to the Round of 64 in the singles main draw while a pair of Memphis doubles teams earned a spot in the Round of 32.
Freshman Aleks Topalovic, sophomore Lina Hohnhold and junior Katherine Cao each tallied straight-set victories in the Round of 128 main draw. Sophomores Laura Bente and Alisha Reayer both earned a first-round bye in the main draw and are set to see action on Friday.
Juniors Claire Sullivan and Josephine Cao along with sophomore Kayla Klazmer also had first-round byes in the singles B Flight and will begin competition Friday.
In doubles, Josephine Cao and Sullivan claimed an 8-7(5) win to advance to the Round of 32. Katherine Cao and freshman Hannah Davies also teamed up to collect a tiebreak victory to advance. Duo Bente and Reayer were given a first-round bye and will start their doubles action Friday in the Round of 32.
