Men's tennis tallies five wins on first day of ITA Regional Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's tennis advanced three in singles and two doubles teams to open the ITA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., hosted by the University of Tennessee.

The Tigers began the day in doubles action, where freshman David Stevenson and junior Matt Story tallied an 8-5 win, while junior Jan Pallares and freshman Jeremy Taylor etched an 8-6 victory to advance to the Round of 64.

In doubles, Pallares notched his second win of the day, a straight-set victory against Marko Guzina of Ball State. Story also earned his second win after a 7-6, 6-4 win against Middle Tennessee's Tom Moonen.

Freshman Oscar Cutting continued his impressive fall play with a first-round win against Ball State's Danilo Kovacevic, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to Friday's Round of 64.
