Carrier Drafted by the Chicago Cubs

Senior outfielder becomes 19th drafted Tiger since 2010
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis senior outfielder Chris Carrier has been selected by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. The Memphis native becomes the 19th former Tiger to be drafted since 2010.
Carrier was a first team All-Conference selection in 2017, batting .330, with 16 doubles and 16 homers. He compiled a .438 on-base percentage and a .641 slugging percentage. His 50 RBI and 44 runs scored were both team highs, while he also swiped a team-best 10 bases.
The Christian Brothers High School product, ended his career riding a 21-game hitting streak, the longest of his career. He was honored with the NCBWA National Player of the Month award for May after his season-ending hot stretch. Carrier slugged eight homers over 14 games in May, driving in 23 runs and hitting .421 (24-for-57) with five doubles and a .529 on-base percentage.
Carrier is the third Memphis Tiger to be drafted by the Cubs and the first since Bill Moss in 2007.
The MLB Draft continues Wednesday with the 11th through 40th rounds, beginning at 11 a.m. (CT).
