Lady Tigers Four Strokes Off Tournament Leaders

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Memphis women's golf team is just four strokes back from the co-leaders after the second round of the 3M Augusta Invitational being held at Forest Hills Golf Club, Saturday. Memphis carded a second round 296, and at 588 through 36 holes, is just four strokes behind #28 Purdue and #38 Tennessee, who share the team lead at 584.

Madison Thomas remains in the top six after a second round 73 (+1). After a double on one, Thomas got those two strokes back with birdies on five and six and went to -1 with a birdie on nine. Coming off the turn, Thomas bogeyed 10 and 11, but stayed clean the rest of the round to remain in the top six of the individual standings at 144.

Emily Goldenstein had the low round of the day for Memphis, using four birdies to finish her second round at an even par 72. The mostly clean round moved her in to the top 15 of the individual standings and she'll start the third round tied with teammate Michaela Fletcher at 13^th overall.

Leighann Cabush found herself at +4 through the opening three holes on Saturday, but battled back with birdies at six and nine to hit the turn at +2. After bogeys on 10 and 12, Cabush birdied three of the final six holes to finish her second round with a 74, moving her her up 16 spots in the overall standings.

Sydney Colwill and Michaela Fletcher each carded 77s on Saturday. Fletcher's 77 dropped her to a tie for 13^th overall through two rounds, while Colwill birdied 18 to give herself some Sunday momentum and will start from a tie for 40^th overall.

Augusta's Jessica Haigwood fired a second round 66 to take the individual lead at 137 (-7). She holds a one stroke lead over day one leader Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State College.

Memphis will be teamed with players from Tennessee and Purdue on Sunday with final round tee times starting at 9 a.m. Fletcher and Thomas will both go off of one, while Colwill and Goldenstein will start off two for the first time this event. Cabush will begin her day off of hole three at 9 a.m.
