Women’s Golf Opening Spring at Amelia Island Collegiate Monday

Lady Tigers posted three top fives in four fall events.

MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team will shake off the semester break rust and will be back in competition, beginning Monday, at the Amelia Island Collegiate, hosted by Jacksonville University in Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Memphis will take a team entry and one individual to the event, which tees off Monday at 8 a.m. in a shotgun start. Julia Gerlach, Sydney Colwill, Leighann Cabush, Emily Goldenstein and Madison Thomas will compete on the team entry, while senior Ashleigh Whisenant will compete as an individual in the tournament.

Cabush captured tournament medalist honors in the Lady Tigers' last outing, winning her second career title at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. As a team, Memphis finished second in the last event, one of three top five finishes for the team in four fall events.

This will be the lone tournament for a couple of weeks for Memphis. The team will next be in action at the 3M Augusta Invitational in Georgia Mar. 11-13^th.
