K.J. Lawson Named to American Conference Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Memphis redshirt freshman K.J. Lawson has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll following his performances against Jackson State and Ole Miss.
In the opener of the week, Lawson hit 4-of-9 shots from the field, and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe, en route to scoring 18 points for the Tigers. He added seven rebounds, five assists, one blocked shot, and one steal in the Memphis victory.
In the weekend finale against Ole Miss he scored 17 points, going 8-of-18 from the field and 1-of-3 from long range. He pulled down three rebounds, and dished out a pair of assists this season.
For the week he averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, shooting 44 percent from the field, and 90 percent from the charity stripe.
This season he stands second on the team in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounds (8.1), and assists (3.9). He is shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 39 percent from long range, and 69 percent from the charity stripe.
After eight games in the first week of the season, the Tigers play just once in the upcoming week, a Saturday afternoon (noon tip-off) contest against the UAB Blazers at FedExForum.
