Tigers Track And Field Opens Indoor Season Saturday

Men's, women's squads combine for 13 top-three finishes.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Rafael Vallery, Saida Burns-Moore and Chardae Greenlee all posted first-place finishes to pace the Tigers' effort in Saturday action at the 2016 Vanderbilt Opener. Overall, the Memphis men's and women's squads combined for 13 top-three performances.
Saturday's meet was the 2016-17 indoor season opener for Memphis. The Vanderbilt Opener was a non-scoring team meet.

Meet Highlights
- Rafael Vallery won the men's shot put with a throw of 56-6.5 (17.23m).
- In her first meet as a Tiger, Saida Burns-Moore won the high jump with a 5-5 mark (1.65m).
- Chardae Greenlee, the 2016 American Athletic Conference triple jump runner-up, placed first in Saturday's triple jump with a mark of 41-1.75 (12.54m).
- In the men's shot put, Memphis had five throwers place in the top-10.
- Jordan Wesner and Olushola Olojo, runners-up in their respective events at last year's American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, recorded top-three finishes Saturday. Wesner was third in the high jump (6-11; 2.11m), and Olojo was second in the triple jump (48-9.5; 14.87m).
- Freshman Cera Chavez was the Tigers' highest finisher in the women's 60m (7.68) and 200m (24.68).
- Junior Rebeka Holt ran her career-best indoor 400m time (56.63) and placed third in the event.
