Six Reach Double-Figures in 13-Point Memphis Win

Memphis out-rebounded Savannah State 55-to-33 in the game, and had a 27-to-12 assist-to-turnover ratio in the game.
Lawson put together his third consecutive double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, and flirted with a triple-double by adding seven assists. Randall II hit 5-of-9 shots from long range, while also setting a career-high in assists (4) and tied a career-high in rebounds (3).
K.J. Lawson recorded his second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Markel Crawford scored 14 points with seven rebounds. Jimario Rivers scored 11 points while pulling down eight boards, with Chad Rykhoek scoring a career-high 10 points, making all five of his field goal tries.
Memphis jumped ahead by 12 at 17-5 through the first five and a half minutes of the game; however, the visitors ran off a 23-8 run to take a three-point lead - 28-25 - with eight minutes to play in the first half.
The hosts immediately answered with 14 straight points to take an 11-point, 39-28 lead, and never trailed again despite the visitors closing the first half on a 7-0 run to cut an 11-point deficit into four heading into the break.
Holding onto a five-point, 52-47 lead after two minutes of the second half, Memphis used a 15-5 run to push ahead by 17. The Memphis advantage dipped into single digits two more times in the second half; however, the strong host squad held on for the 13-point victory.
Memphis made 37 of its 77 shots from the field, scoring a season-high 99 points, while Savannah State made 28-of-70 (40 percent). Of Savannah State's 28 baskets, 16 were from beyond the arc, giving the MEAC opponent 40 three-point baskets in its last two games.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, November 22, when the squad hosts McNeese State with a 7 p.m. tip-off at FedExForum.
