Men's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day Saturday

Tigers will recognize Raul Gonzalez, Kenneth Kauker, and Jordan Klipsch before kick-off
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team celebrates Senior Day this weekend with a 7 p.m. match against UConn Saturday night. The Tigers are 7-7-1 overall and 1-3-1 in American Athletic Conference play.

Memphis will honor its three seniors, Raul Gonzalez, Kenneth Kauker, and Jordan Klipsch prior to kick-off against the Huskies. All three Tigers have played their entire careers at the University of Memphis.

In his time at Memphis, Gonzalez was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team in 2013 and first-team all-conference in 2015. He has scored 13 goals for the Tigers including a career-high seven in 2015. Gonzalez, a Business Administration and Supply Chain Management major, has scored three goals for Memphis this season including a perfect 2-for-2 mark in penalty kick attempts.

Kauker has played an integral role throughout his career at Memphis. After starting his career as a midfielder, Kauker made the transition to center back this season where he has started and played in ever match. Kauker has scored three goals in his Memphis career and against UCF earlier this year, he tallied a career-high three points with a goal and an assist.

Klipsch has played in 60 matches for the blue and gray including starts in all 15 matches this year. Earlier this season, Klipsch was named the American Athletic Conference Defender of the Week after scoring on Belmont. He has recorded five goals in his Memphis career and this season, both of his goals were game-winners.

The Tigers are led in scoring by freshman Jackson Morse who has four on the year. Twelve separate players have scored for the Tigers including all three of the Memphis seniors. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jake Leeker is the Tigers' primary goalkeeper where he has registered 66 saves.

The UConn Huskies are entering into the weekend with an 11-5-0 overal record and 3-2 mark in American play. UConn most recently fell to UCF in overtime last Saturday. The Huskies are 3-2 on the road this year and are led offensively by Abdou Mbacke Thiam, who scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season last weekend.

This is the fourth meeting between the two teams and UConn holds a 2-1 overall advantage. Memphis won the last meeting in 2015 in Storrs by a score of 1-0 in overtime.
