Tigers head to Central Arkansas for final non-conference match
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team looks to rebound off of its loss to SMU this past weekend with a non-conference match against Central Arkansas Tuesday evening. Kick-off against the Bears is at 7 p.m. in Conway, Ark.
Â
The Tigers are 10-1 all-time against the Central Arkansas, with the last victory coming last year at home by a score of 3-1. Memphis is now 7-5-1 this season.
Â
"We have to gain some confidence," said head coach Richard Mulrooney. "UCA is a tough place to play. I've been there a couple of times and it's tough to get a result there. I want to see who is ready to come back out and start playing the way we can play."
Â
Â
Jackson Morse leads the Tigers with four goals scored this season. Twelve separate players have scored this season for Memphis, which ranks among the nation leaders for goal distribution. The Tigers are ahead of every other team in the conference with USF and UConn coming in at 10 scorers each. Only Florida Gulf Coast (13), High Point (14) and Virginia Tech (14) have a larger contingent of goal scorers this year.
Â
Central Arkansas comes into the Tuesday midweek with a 4-7-1 overall record and 2-2-1 mark at home. Referencing back to scoring distribution, the Bears have only had six contributors this season. Niklas Brodacki leads the way with eight goals this season on 37 shots.
Â
Marc Olsen is the only goalkeeper of record for Central Arkansas and in over 1130 minutes, he has allowed 16 goals and in 12 matches he has tallied four shutouts. Those shutouts were against Wisconsin-Green Bay, Central Baptist College, Evansville, and Bradley.
Â
Kick-off against the Bears is slated for 7 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex. The link for the game stream will be available at www.gotigersgo.com and in game updates can be found on Twitter at @MemphisMSoccer.Â
