Women's Golf Leads Field at Memphis Intercollegiate Through Two Rounds

Freshman Madison Thomas leads the field after two holes.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis freshman Madison Thomas fired a 3-over par 145 to lift the Lady Tigers into first place after day one action in the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate held at the Ridgeway Country Club Monday.
The teams played two rounds (36 holes) on the first day of action.
Thomas was one of three Lady Tigers to place in the intercollegiate's top-five, leading the field after the first two rounds. Junior Leighann Cabush and redshirt senior Ashleigh Whisenant are tied for third place, with both shooting a 5-over par 147.
Freshman Sydney Colwill, who is playing as an individual, is in sixth place with a 6-over par 148.
Memphis leads the team field after two rounds with a 589. Ole Miss is in second place with a 609, followed by Cincinnati in third (611) and McNeese State in fourth (612).
Other Lady Tigers counting toward the team score are sophomores Emily Goldenstein in 12th place (9-over par 151) and Megan Beane in 31st place (14-over par 156).
Another highlight from the first day of action came from visiting IUPUI. Jaguars' junior Erin Ingram recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3, 125-yard 17th hole in the second round.
The Memphis Women's Intercollegiate concludes Tuesday, Sept. 15 with the final round at Ridgeway Country Club, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
