Kenneth Kauker scored for Memphis in final preseason match

Chandler Klemm scored an equalizer in the 63^rd minute to earn Memphis a 1-1 draw with Lipscomb Sunday evening in Nashville. The Tigers now turn their attention to the regular-season opener Friday against UAB at 7:00 p.m. at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The Tigers trailed just after the 30-minute mark of the first half when sophomore Ivan Alvarado scored on an assist by redshirt freshman Logan Paynter.

Redshirt sophomore Jake Leeker made the start in goal for Memphis and played the entire match. He made four saves in the match and allowed the one goal.

Memphis forced the goalkeeping tandem of Micah Bledsoe, who played the majority of the match, and Christopher Zappia into making four saves in the match.

Both teams had 11 total shots, while Lipscomb held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Freshmen David Adams, Josh Burnett and Mason Morise each started for the Tigers and three other freshmen made appearances off of the bench. Senior Quincy Thomas also returned to the starting lineup.

For the second consecutive season Memphis and UAB will open the regular season against each other. The Tigers are looking to pick up their first win over the Blazers since 2012.
