Memphis-Oklahoma Nov. 17 Game Part Of ESPN College Hoops Marathon

BRISTOL, Conn. – For the sixth time since the event's inception in November of 2008, the University of Memphis is scheduled to be a part of the annual ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, the network announced Tuesday.
Memphis will host Oklahoma, a 2015-16 preseason top-10 team, in a 4 p.m. (CT)/5 p.m. (ET) contest Nov. 17 on ESPN at FedExForum. The Sooners, a 2015 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen participant, returns four starters from last season's 24-11 squad, including a 2015-16 preseason National Player of the Year candidate in Buddy Hield.
The following are a few facts about Memphis' history in the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon:
Memphis is the only American Athletic Conference men's squad playing in this season's ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. On the women's side, Connecticut will represent the league in the event. The three-time defending NCAA champion Huskies will meet Ohio State Nov. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Tigers open their 2015-16 campaign Nov. 14 against Southern Miss at FedExForum. Game time is to be announced at a later date.

- The Tigers are 3-0 in home games played in the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Memphis is 0-2 in neutral-site contests.
- The Tigers posted home wins over UMass 80-58 in 2008, Miami (Fla.) 72-68 in 2010 and Belmont 97-81 in 2011.
- Memphis' two neutral-site setbacks were to No. 1 Kansas 57-55 in St. Louis, Mo., in 2009 and No. 11 Wichita State 71-56 in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 2014
- Three of the previous five appearances were part of college basketball exempt events (Puerto Rico Tip-Off in 2008; Hall of Fame Showcase in 2009; Maui Invitational in 2011).
- In 2008 and 2010, Memphis tipped off the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, playing the first game of the marathon in the 11 p.m. (CT)/12 a.m. (ET) time slot.
- In 2009, the Memphis-Kansas contest closed the marathon with a 9 p.m. (CT)/10 p.m. (ET) game that finished at 11 p.m. (CT)/12 a.m. (ET).
