COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of Memphis sophomore Amy Fister competed in smallbore at the 2015 National Junior Olympic Championships this week and placed fifth overall in the discipline.
Fister recorded a two-day score of 1158. She finished fifth out of 65 shooters that competed in the discipline.
Fister's appearance at the 2015 National Junior Olympic Championships continued her solid 2014-15 campaign. In March, the sophomore was the Tigers' representative at the NCAA Championships, and she posted a top-20 finish in smallbore. Fister placed 20th with a score of 577 in the discipline.
This season, Fister earned All-Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) honorable mention accolades in smallbore. It was her second-straight conference honor, as she earned the same recognition in 2014.
The Kutztown, Pa., native competed in 13 of the 15 smallbore events -- including the NCAA Championships -- this season and posted an average score of 575.9 in the discipline. She shot a season-high 582 on two occasions against Army and at the Withrow Invitational. Fister placed first in the match against Army and finished eighth at the Withrow Invitational.
Fister finished fourth in smallbore with a score of 579 at the NCAA Sectional/Qualifier Feb. 22. She also had a second-place performance (579) in smallbore in a match against Kentucky Jan. 18.
