MOBILE, ALA. – Thomas Perrot birdied his final hole of the day to card a second-round 69 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate. Perrot heads into Tuesday’s final 18 holes tied for fourth individually and helped the Tigers to a fourth-place team standing during Monday’s play.
After an opening-round 302 team score, the Tigers regrouped to card a three-under part 285 during play Monday afternoon. Memphis heads into Tuesday’s final round with a 587 team score (+11), five strokes back of second-round leader South Alabama which has shot 582 (+6). Ole Miss and No. 20 Auburn are tied for second (+7).
The third round of the tournament is now slated for a shotgun start at Magnolia Grove Crossing Golf Course (par 72, 7160 yards) with Memphis paired with Louisiana Tech and Michigan State, which are in fifth and sixth place, respectively. The groups the Tigers are playing in will play off the No. 5-8 tees Tuesday.
Perrot will begin his final round on the 430-yard, par 4 fifth hole. Magnolia Grove’s No. 5 is the same hole that Perrot finished Monday’s, shotgun-start play with a birdie to finish 36 holes tied for fourth. Perrot’s second round also included a birdie at No. 2 for the second time during the day. After an opening round 74, Perrot’s 69 later in the day gave him a two-round score of 143 (-1).
Memphis’ Cory Gaylord is tied for ninth at one-over par (72-73-145) while Lars Van Meijel is tied for 18th at +3 (77-70-147). Van Meijel had seven birdies during Monday’s second round but had to rally from a bogey and double bogey on the back nine. He had birdies on three of the round’s final six holes including a birdie putt on his final hole, the 540-yard par 4, fourth hole.
