With tonight’s win, Memphis now trails 3-2 in the series with Connecticut.
Tonight’s victory was the Tigers’ first over Connecticut in the city of Memphis. Connecticut won both meetings against Memphis in the Bluff City last season.

  Team Notes

Memphis now has an 8-3 record (.727 winning percentage) when playing the defending NCAA champion in its history. The Tigers have a 5-0 record when playing a defending NCAA champion at home. Under head coach Josh Pastner, Memphis is 3-0 vs. defending NCAA champions (2-0 last season vs. Louisville).
The Tigers defense held Connecticut to 25 percent shooting from the three-point arc tonight. Memphis is 11-5 when holding opponents to under 30 percent from the arc this season.
Connecticut out-rebounded Memphis by a +14 (41-27). It was the second-highest rebound margin for a Tigers’ opponent this season (vs. SMU; Mustangs +16 rebound margin on Jan. 8).
Memphis had four players net double figures tonight vs. Connecticut. The Tigers have a 13-3 record when four or more players score in double figures this season.

Austin Nichols blocked seven shots vs. Connecticut tonight. He moved into the No. 7 spot on the Tigers single-season blocked shots chart with 85. William Bedford is No. 6 on the list with 86 blocks.
With his seven blocks tonight, Austin Nichols recorded his 24th multi-block performance of the season and the 32nd of his career.
