Tigers back home next weekend to start second half play.
DALLAS – League-leading SMU (19-3, 9-1 American) won its ninth consecutive match, Sunday, downing visiting Memphis (14-9, 5-5 American), in three sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18. The Tigers' offense could never get on track against the top 30-ranked Mustangs, hitting .083 for the match and scoring just one service ace in the loss.
Summer Morgan led Memphis with seven kills, while McKenzie Hayes and Torika Baleilekutu each scored six kills in the loss. Catlin Lilly led the defense with 12 digs, while Mady Ruhlman had 11 in the loss.
Abbey Bybel and Janelle Giordano each had nine kills for SMU. Giordano led all players with four blocks and Morgan Heise led the SMU defense with 17 digs.
Memphis returns home for the first time in three weeks this coming weekend, hosting UConn, Friday, at 7 p.m. and Temple, Sunday, at 1 p.m. Admission for both matches is free and the first 100 fans in Friday's game will receive a Happy Halloween candy bag.
