Tonight’s contest between Memphis and N.C. Central was the first meeting between the two programs.
With tonight’s win, Memphis now is 31-4 (.886 winning percentage) against first-time opponents since 2000-01. N.C. Central was the third of four first-time foes for the Tigers this season (Stephen F. Austin, USC Upstate and Western Illinois are the other three).
With tonight’s win, the Tigers improved their record against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foes to 7-0.

With tonight’s win, the Tigers improved their record at FedExForum to 180-23 (.887 winning percentage). The 180 homecourt wins are the most at the NCAA Division I level since 2004-05.
Memphis was 5-for-15 from the three-point arc tonight vs. N.C. Central. It was the 463rd-consecutive game in which the Tigers hit at least one three-pointer. The last time Memphis failed to hit a three-pointer was vs. Alabama in November of 2001.

Nick King grabbed a career-high nine rebounds vs. N.C. Central.
Chris Hawkins saw his first action tonight since Dec. 2. He scored six points. Hawkins missed the previous two games with a groin injury.
Austin Nichols grabbed seven boards tonight vs. N.C. Central. It is the 17th time Nichols has had five or more rebounds in a game in his career.
With his 11 points tonight, Shaq Goodwin now had 743 career points and needs 257 to reach the 1,000-point milestone. When reached, Goodwin would become the 50th player in Tigers history to do so.
