- Tonight’s contest between Memphis and N.C. Central was the first meeting between the two programs.
- With tonight’s win, Memphis now is 31-4 (.886 winning percentage) against first-time opponents since 2000-01. N.C. Central was the third of four first-time foes for the Tigers this season (Stephen F. Austin, USC Upstate and Western Illinois are the other three).

- Chris Hawkins saw his first action tonight since Dec. 2. He scored six points. Hawkins missed the previous two games with a groin injury.
- Austin Nichols grabbed seven boards tonight vs. N.C. Central. It is the 17th time Nichols has had five or more rebounds in a game in his career.
