@MemphisWBKB DC-Bound to Face Georgetown
Dec 10, 2014 | Women's Basketball
This is the Tigers' first-ever meeting with the Hoyas. This will, however, be Melissa McFerrin's fourth meeting with Georgetown. She was 0-3 against the Hoyas while the head coach at cross-town foe American University.
Memphis is 22-34 all-time against BIG EAST schools, but a majority of those meetings were against DePaul (21 games) and Marquette (24 games) when the trio of schools all belonged to Conference USA.
Double Digit Rebounds for Wright
Junior post Brianna Wright became the first Tiger since Jasmine Lee to post double digit rebounds in three straight games, finishing with 10 against Central Michigan.
The Memphis record for most consecutive games with double digit rebounds is five, a mark held by Tamika Whitmore (1/8/98-1/23/98), a player who went on to be a WNBA All-Star.
In eight games, Wright has posted double-digit rebounds in five games and currently ranks 48th in the country in rebounding with 10.1 rpg.
The last time a Tiger averaged double-digit rebounds for a season was 2011-12 when Jasmine Lee averaged 10.3 rpg.
Rowser One Away From 400th Point
Redshirt sophomore guard Mooriah Rowser will be close to home when she passes the 400-career point mark. Rowser, who hails from Rockville, Md., has 399 career points in 42 career games heading in to the Georgetown match-up.
For the season, she has scored double-digit points in six of eight games.
Continuing a Strong Schedule
Memphis' strength of schedule is one of the toughest in the country in the early going. In the latest RealTimeRPI.com ratings, the Tigers' Strength of Schedule is No. 55 out of 351 NCAA Division I women's basketball programs.
The Tigers have already played five teams in the top 100 in RPI through eight non-conference games and have eight more games against top 100 RPI teams still coming up on the schedule.
