Memphis leads the all-time series 2-0.
The last time the two teams played was the 1990-91 season. Memphis won that game 104-79. The 1990-91 season was the last campaign the Tigers played in the Mid-South Coliseum.
The Tigers improved their all-time record vs. the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) to 27-1 with Monday's win over Prairie View A&M.

  Interesting Tidbits

Memphis head coach Josh Pastner picked up his fourth career technical foul in tonight's win over Prairie View. The technical foul came in the first half.
Pastner's first technical foul came in the 2010-11 season. He picked up that technical in a 91-86 win over Tennessee State Jan. 2, 2011.
His second technical came later that same season at East Carolina on Mar. 3, 2011 (68-57 Pirates win)
Pastner's third technical came in the 2012-13 season at Southern Miss on Feb. 9, 2013 (89-76 Memphis win).
Memphis has a 3-1 record when Pastner gets a technical foul.

  Team Notes

Tonight's game was a non-bracket contest of the 2014 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. Memphis now has a 101-66 all-time record in regular-season tournaments/classics.
Memphis improved its all-time, home-opening record to 73-21. The Tigers have won their last 12 home openers and are 6-0 in home openers under head coach Josh Pastner.
Memphis now has 178 wins at FedExForum (178-21) since the arena opened in 2004-05. The 178 wins by the Tigers at FedExForum are the most homecourt victories by an NCAA Division I program since 2004-05.
Tonight's home opener is the 11th season of play for the Tigers at FedExForum.
Memphis had 15 assists on 24 field goals made vs. Prairie View Monday.

  Player Notes

Junior college transfer Chris Hawkins and redshirt freshman Markel Crawford got their first NCAA Division I starts vs. Prairie View A&M Monday.
Sophomore Austin Nichols started his 36th-straight game Monday.
Sophomore Kuran Iverson did not dress out for a second-straight game due to a concussion.
Redshirt freshman Markel Crawford hit his first collegiate three-pointer Monday. His three-pointer came at the 17:47 mark of the first half. Crawford finished the game 2-of-4 from the arc.
Junior Trahson Burrell grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.
Shaq Goodwin came off the bench to score 16 points. He now has 677 career points and needs 323 to reach 1,000 for his career.
Nick King tied a career high with eight boards vs. Prairie View A&M Monday. He also had eight boards at Oklahoma State last season.
