Postgame Notes
- With the win, Memphis is now 10-6 in Conference USA play this season, giving the Tigers 13 consecutive season of double-digit victories in conference play.
- This game was Memphis’ 250th as a member of C-USA; Memphis is now 187-63 in Conference USA since 1995-96.
- Memphis moves to 42-9 all-time against the Green Wave, and have now won 19 in a row. Tulane hasn’t won at Memphis since Dec. 9, 1992, and the average margin of victory in the past 19 contests is 18.7 points.
- This is the closest Tulane has gotten to beating the Tigers since Memphis escaped with a one-point, 58-57 win at Tulane in Feb. 13, 2003.
- The Tigers move to 15-2 on Senior Day since 1994-95.
- Head Coach Josh Pastner tied Larry Finch for most wins at the U of M in his first two seasons at the school with his 46th victory.
- Can’t Keep it Together: In conference games where they are tied or leading at halftime this season, Tulane is now 2-5 and have lost five in a row.
- Memphis tied a school record for most single-digit victories in a season with 14; the 1984-85 squad that made the NCAA Final Four also 14 single-digit wins.
- Freshman Tarik Black led all scorers with a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. He also blocked a shot for the 15th game in a row.
- No Depth: Tulane’s bench provided little help to the Green Wave, with three bench players getting just 15 minutes of action and no points.
- Saturday Trouble: Tulane is now 2-9 when playing on Saturday’s this season.
- Old Faces, New Places (in the line-up): Memphis used its nation-leading 17th different starting line-up this season, with a starting five of Coleman, A. Barton, W. Barton, Carmouche and Crawford taking the court to open the game.
- Memphis, led by freshman Chris Crawford with seven, garnered 20 assists against Tulane, the first time Memphis has earned at least 20 helpers since a 77-61 win against Marshall, Jan. 15. The Tigers are 6-0 when they have 20 or more assists in a game this season.
- The game marked Crawford’s third of the season with seven assists or more, with the final one giving him 100 assists for his career. It was the 15th time this season Crawford has led the Tigers in assists. With five points, Crawford also scored his 200th career point as a Tiger.
- Memphis shot a season-best 55.3 percent (26-for-47) from the field.
- For the second game in a row, Memphis outscored its opponent by more than 15 points in the paint; led by Black’s 18 paint points, Memphis outscored Tulane 42-26 in the paint.
- Committing only 13 fouls throughout the game, Memphis sent Tulane to the line just nine times, the lowest number of free throws by a Tiger opponent this season.
- Junior Charles Carmouche attempted his 200th career collegiate three-pointer.
- Ball Control Blues: For the sixth game in a row, Memphis was outscored in points off turnovers, with Tulane’s defensive presence doubling Memphis’, 16-8.
- Tulane pulled down a mere 21 rebounds, a Tulane and Tiger opponent season-low. No Depth, Part II: Memphis’ bench outscored Tulane’s 38-0, the fewest bench points Memphis has allowed this season and third-highest point differential between benches of Memphis’ season. Memphis also got its 900th bench point of the season.
- Freshman Will Barton chipped in 15 points, his 20th career double-figure effort.
