• Memphis moves to 15-2 in single-digit games this season, setting the school record for most single-digit wins in a season.
• Four Tigers (Jackson, A. Barton, W. Barton, Carmouche) scored in double figures, the first time since Feb. 22 against Houston (A. Barton, Black, Carmouche, Witherspoon) four Tigers reached double digits.
• The Tigers have won 17 games in a row over Southern Miss, dating back to Jan. 10, 2004.
• Freshman Tarik Black's streak of 15 games with at least one block was ended. He also scored his 300th career point.
• Memphis ended its run of bad luck in the state of Texas, picking up its first win in four trips to the Lonestar state this season.
• With the victory, head coach Josh Pastner is one away from tying John Calipari for most victories in his first two seasons at the helm of the U of M men's basketball program.
• Freshman Joe Jackson led the Tigers with 15 points, his 15th career double-figure scoring game. It was his first double-digit scoring game since he scored 12 points against UAB, Feb. 16.
• Jackson was also 7-for-8 from the free throw line, his first game with more than seven made free throws since going 9-for-10, Dec. 20 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
• After losing its opening C-USA Tournament game last season, the Tigers rebounded for the win against USM, making it six of the past seven years Memphis has advanced past its first C-USA game.
• Will Barton and Wesley Witherspoon tied for the team lead with six rebounds, the 10th time this season Barton has led or tied for the team lead in rebounds.
• The Memphis men's and women's basketball teams both made the semifinals in the same year for the first time since 1996, the first year of Conference USA.
