• Freshman Will Barton's streak of games in a row scoring in double figures was halted at 10. He finished with eight points.
• The loss is Memphis' first ever to the Owls. They entered tonight's game 7-0 all-time against Rice, with an average margin of victory of 17.8 points per contest.
• The Tigers suffer just their second loss this season when holding an opponent under 45 percent shooting; Rice shot 44 percent (22-50) from the field.
• Memphis recorded season-lows in field goals made (17) and points (52) and had the season's second-lowest marks in field goal percentage (35.4), made three-pointers (3), three-point percentage (17.6) and rebounds (30).
• Junior Wesley Witherspoon scored points in his 50th consecutive game; he finished with eight points in 23 minutes off the bench.
• The Tigers tied a season-low with 24 points in the paint.
• For the first time in seven games, Memphis had double-digit points off turnovers, with 13 points coming off 16 Rice turnovers.
• Sophomore DJ Stephens attempted his 100th career shot for the Tigers.
• The Tigers losses in conference play this season have been by an average of 11.2 points per contest. The four losses are the most in conference play since the 2004-05 season.
