Game Notes
- After going with the same starting line-up in the first four games of the season, Memphis has used a new starting five for the past two contests as the combination of Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford, Will Barton, Stan Simpson and Wesley Witherspoon is now 2-0 on the season.
- The 31-point Memphis win (91-60) marks the Tigers' largest margin of victory this season.
- Memphis' 15 three-pointers in the game is the second-highest team total in program history. The mark has been achieved a total of eight times with the most recent coming Feb. 20, 2010 against SMU.
- For the third time this year, the Tigers tallied assists on at least 50 percent of their baskets (23 assists on 32 field goals, .719). Memphis is 3-0 this season and 13-3 last year when accomplishing that feat.
- Memphis' first six baskets of the game were all three-pointers as the Tigers were 6-for-9 from the floor and 6-for-7 from three-point range in the first seven minutes of the contest to build an 18-10 lead.
- The Tigers finished the first half 11-for-15 (.733) from three-point range with six different players hitting from behind the arc.
- After Austin Peay got off to a 2-for-4 shooting start, the Memphis defense locked down, allowing the Governors to make just two of their next 10 shots.
- The Tigers used a 16-2 run from 15:10 to 11:48 in the first half to establish a commanding 25-10 lead.
- Memphis' 52 first-half points marks the third time this year the Tigers have scored at least 50 points in a half.
- Sophomore Will Barton posted his second double-double of the season and his career with 22 points and 13 rebounds. He actually achieved the mark in the first half after racking up 13 points and 10 boards.
- Barton's 22 points mark the fourth time this season and eighth time in his career he has scored more than 20 points. Barton scored nine straight points for the Tigers during a four-minute stretch in the second half.
- For the second-straight game, true freshman Adonis Thomas was the first Tiger sub, coming in at the 17:29 mark. He made an immediate impact with a three-pointer to give Memphis a 9-5 lead, his sixth-straight game with a made trey. Thomas finished the game with 17 points while going 5-for-6 from three-point range.
