• The loss snapped the Tigers six game winning streak in Conference USA road openers.
• Junior Charles Carmouche scored his 100th point in a Memphis uniform. He also recorded a steal for the fifth game in a row.
• Memphis allowed a season-low tying 23 rebounds, including a season-low five on the offensive glass, to SMU.
• The Tigers have now dropped two in a row to the Mustangs in Dallas.
• The Tigers didn't allow a fast-break point to an opponent for the first time this season.
• Losing in the second conference game of the season is the earliest Memphis has lost in C-USA play since losing the opener to Southern Miss, 66-63, in 2004.
• Memphis loses for the first time after leading at the half this season.
• Following a Tarik Black dunk with 11:18 to go in the second half, the Tigers went over nine minutes without scoring until a Joe Jackson lay-up with 2:14 to go. In that time, SMU turned an 11-point deficit into a four-point lead.
• Memphis was a season-worst 0-for-9 from the line in the second half. Memphis was a season-worst 23.1 percent (3-for-13) from the charity stripe in the game.
• Junior Wesley Witherspoon had 11 points, his first double-digit scoring performance since Dec. 30 against Lipscomb.
• The Tigers past two contests have featured their two lowest scoring performances of the season: 61 points, Sunday, against East Carolina and a season-low 58 against the Mustangs.
• The Tigers were held well under their conference-leading average of 16.5 assists per contest, finishing with a season-low eight against SMU.
