Memphis Cross Country Begins Season

University of Memphis cross country coach Doug Clark officially began his tenure Saturday night at Mike Rose Stadium as the Memphis Tiger distance runners competed at the Brooks Memphis Twilight XC Classic.
Junior Jacob Chapman was the highest finisher for the University of Memphis in the Men's 8k. Chapman finished 37th overall with a time of 21:20.44. Senior Jorgen Ekdahl was second among U of M runners finishing 49th overall with a time of 21:35.50. With an average time of 23:33.03 in the 8k, Memphis finished 19th in the team standings.
Freshman Louisa Lingley was the top finisher for the University of Memphis in the women's 5k. With a time of 20:47.47, Lingley finished 73rd overall. The women's distance runners finished 17th overall with an average time of 22:11.99.
The cross country teams return to action Sept. 19th at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
