MISCELLANEOUS TEAM NOTES
· Captains for Memphis were seniors Curtis Steele, Brett Toney and Alton Starr.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
· Duke Calhoun caught a five-yard pass from Will Hudgens on Memphis' first play of the game to extend his receiving streak to 45 games. Calhoun ranks third nationally in active receiving streaks behind Central Michigan's Bryan Anderson (48) and Buffalo's Naaman Roosevelt (46).
· Carlos Singleton caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Will Hudgens with :43 remaining in the second quarter for his third TD catch of the season and the 22nd of his career to extend his school record. The touchdown pass was the sixth of the season for Hudgens and the 17th of his career.
· At halftime, Duke Calhoun had six receptions for 57 yards, with a long catch of 22 yards. This is the second straight game that Calhoun has posted six or more receptions in a half. He had seven receptions in the second half against Southern Miss.
· Carlos Singleton registered a season high nine receptions for 70 yards. Singleton now ranks second all-time in receptions with 154. In tonight's game, he surpassed Damien Dodson, who totaled 147 catches from 1996-99. Singleton is behind record holder Duke Calhoun, who finished the game with nine receptions for 91 yards to now total 194 career catches. Calhoun and Singleton are also No. 1 and No. 2 all-time in career yardage at the U of M.
· Freshman Marcus Rucker scored off a 43-yard reception with 12:42 remaining in the fourth quarter for his second touchdown catch of the season. He also scored against UTEP. Rucker finished the game with a career-best 89 yards on five catches. His previous high was 53 yards on two catches against UTEP.
· Will Hudgens threw two touchdown passes tonight for his fifth career game of multiple touchdown passes; the second of 2009.
· Hudgens finished with 313 yards passing, marking his second career 300-yard passing game. The redshirt-senior also had 346 yards passing against Marshall in 2007.
· The 33 passing completions by Will Hudgens is a career best and ranks in a tie for fourth in school history with Arkelon Hall's 33 against Louisville last season. The school record for completions is 41 set by Martin Hankins against Ole Miss in 2007. This is the second-straight game Hudgens has completed 28 or more pass attempts. The 48 attempts in the game are also a career high and rank in a tie for ninth all-time.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
· Linebacker Winston Bowens tallied a career high 12 tackles to lead the team tonight. It is the second-straight game he has totaled seven or more stops and third time this season.
· Defensive back Marcus Ball made a career high 10 tackles. It is his second-straight game of seven tackles or more.
· Bryan Wright picked off Patrick Pinkney early in the third quarter for his first career interception. Wright made an 18-yard return on the play. The Tigers scored a field goal off the miscue.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
· Chris Hobbs returned the first kickoff for the Tigers and made a 35-yard return. The return tied a career high as he also logged a 35-yard return against UTEP. Hobbs finished the game with 127 yards on four returns. He had a team season-high 59-yard kickoff return midway through the fourth quarter.
· Matt Reagan booted a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter and is 7-of-7 for field goals under 30 yards this season. He is 28 of 30 for his career from kicks of 30 yards or less.
· Reagan converted a 45-yard yard field goal with 8:42 remaining in the third quarter for his second-highest field goal make of his career. He booted a 48 yarder last week against Southern Miss. This is the 14th game that Reagan has made multiple field goals in a game.
· Matt Reagan's PAT in the fourth quarter after Marcus Rucker's TD was blocked, thus snapping a career long streak of 35 consecutive PATs made, which ranks fifth in school history. His last miss was versus Southern Miss on Oct. 25, 2008.
