• Tommy Walker, a freshman from Munford, Tenn., went in to the game early on defense at left end and is the first true freshman to play for the Tigers this season. Later in the third quarter, true freshman Curtis Echols went in at wide receiver.
• Sophomore T.J. Pitts got his second career start tonight at tailback. He was replacing senior Joseph Doss who is out with a knee injury. Pitts finished the night with a career high 11 rushes for a career best 52 yards.
• Junior defensive back Tony Bell blocked Zach Walden's punt which was ultimately recovered by Walden at the JSU 21. The last time that Memphis blocked a punt was in 2003 against Southern Miss.
• The Tigers scored first in tonight's game off a five-yard run by sophomore running back Miguel Barnes. It was Barnes' first career touchdown and Memphis' third rushing touchdown of the season.
• Junior receiver Carlton Robinzine registered his first career touchdown pass on a 48-yard strike from Martin Hankins in the second quarter. Robinzine missed all but one game last season after suffering a knee injury in the season opener against Ole Miss. The 48-yard catch was also a career long for Robinzine.
• Junior receiver Maurice Jones caught his third career touchdown pass; his first of the season, when he hauled in the 58-yard pass from Martin Hankins with just over a minute left in the first half. The reception was a career high for Jones.
• Martin Hankins passed for 289 yards tonight marking his ninth career games of 200-plus yards passing. Hankins completed 16 of 22 passes and totaled three touchdowns and just one interception. • Junior Earnest Williams busted off a 52-yard punt return in the third quarter and helped set up the 20-yard touchdown run by Greg Hinds. The return was the longest for the Tigers since Darron White made a 60 yard return against Tulane in 2004.
• Greg Hinds made his first appearance of the season in the third quarter and on his first play on offense, he caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Martin Hankins. It was Hinds' first career touchdown and just his 10th career reception.
• Redshirt freshman quarterback Matt Malouf scored his second touchdown of the season when he rushed 38 yards for a score in the fourth quarter to give Memphis the 35-7 lead. Malouf scored in the season opener against Ole Miss. He finished the game with two rushes for 50 yards.
